I Have a special friend I spent an hour and a half with everyday a couple years ago. He could have the sweetest personality most times. Then when you least expected it he could come unglued. He like us all has his moments, but for him to process and deal with needs and wants, lacks the connections a lot of us have to filter and communicate these desires to others. Biting, kicking, pinching and pulling your hair are some of his first reactions some days.

One morning, as we do every morning, at the beginning of school, say two pledges, one for the state of Texas and one for our country. We then have a moment of silence. Every student, teacher and staff person is free to use these few moments however they wish. Me, I pray for all the little people my life will touch that day.

Back to this particular morning. I was standing next to this special friend. As the words were said, "Now for a moment of silence', this shot out of his mouth, while at the same time he bowed with hands folded and said, "I Got the Power"! As quickly as he said it he was done and his confident smile was on his face ready to jump start his day.

I GOT THE POWER! is it really that simple?

  •    Me who's lived my faith in Christ for nearly fifty years,
  •    Me who has watched all the miraculous commands from the hand of God,
  •    Me who knows the power that lives within me waging war mightily through me everyday,
  •    Me? Had I missed the most basic element of my prayer life? To just say and acknowledge I have the power?

The power my friend was probably referring to was the power from the Ninja Turtle shirts he wares everyday. More importantly it was the look on his face that said it all. There was no doubt he had the power.

          Listen to this text:
Act 14:8 — 10
Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking.

Seeing he had faith to be healed! Paul could see the belief in the young man. Do people see that kind of faith in me? What does the face of a believer look like when they are looked upon by others? If you know my friend!, you know the look.

Do you have the look of belief?
 Do you have the power?

I think I will start all my prayers with....... Dear God! I got the power!

My day will be Spirit driven, God ordained and more Powerful than what I'll ever know what to do with.
